How To Find Accommodation

The fastest way to find somewhere to stay is by using our search panel shown above.

For a fast list of places to stay select from the Town, County or Region dropdowns and click “Search”. The results will be displayed in alphabetical order by Hotel/Guest House name so you can very quickly see what's available.

If you know the name of the hotel or its postcode just type it in the “Venue” box and click search. Postcode and venue searches are a great way to find out what's available within a particular area and results are arranged closest to the place you specified. Great if you don't like walking!

Question 1: Why Can't I Log In?

Answer: 99% of the time the problem is people trying to re-join when they are already members. If we email you an invite to list with us, we have already pre-signed you up and allocated a password for your account. All you need to do is enter this into the top right of any page and click the 'Login' button.

Passwords are case sensitive so please enter them exactly as they appear in emails or as you entered them when joining.

Question 2: How Much Does It Cost?

Answer: Its free! That often makes people suspicious but we are happy to say that our running costs are covered by the small, hopefully unobtrusive, adverts at the sides and bottom of our pages. Our aim is to provide an easy to use directory of quality establishments without costing the advertiser anything.

Question 3: What Are The Benefits To Me?

Answer: The main benefit is that we can drive just a little more customers to your door. By raising the exposure of establishments we simply make it easier for visitors to find the accommodation of their choice, offering the facilities they require.

Question 4: How Will I Know If Its Been Worth It?

Answer: When visitors click on your website details or send you and email we will also send you a courtesy message telling you that a potential customer has been sent your way. This gives you immediate feedback on how much traffic is being sent to you from our site. By default you will recieve a message for these referrals but you can easily opt out by unchecking the ' Notify me of web referrals' box on your establishment details.

Question 5: Can I Upload A Picture?

Answer: If you've browsed the site you've probably already realised that you can most definitely add a picture for your hotel or B&B. We prefer a .JPG or .GIF file below 500kb in side. The system will then automatically scale it to fit on the page. If you have problems or only have pictures in other formats just email your picture to support@bedbreakfasthotel.com along with your establishment name and postcode and we'll happily upload your photo for you.

At the moment only one photo per establishment but we are working on upgrading to multiple pictures - we will keep you posted.

Question 6: Can I Be Removed From Your Directory?

Answer: We absolutely guarantee to remove anybody that no longer wants t be listed with us. Just let us know by email and we'll get you taken off immediately. You have no obligation whatsoever and can opt out at any time.

Question 7: How Secure Are My Details And What Are You Storing?

Answer: We only store the details you supply to us plus your email address and a password. No other tracking or personal information is gathered by us and we most definately don't pass any of it to other parties. If you ask to be removed we delete your account, establishment details and pictures.

Password details are stored in encrypted form that even we can't access - all we can do is reset your password - we cannot tell you what it was!

Question 8: What Is Your Policy On Cookies?

Answer: A Cookie is the name given to a small 'token' your web browser keeps so that it can remember who you are and maintain your login details while you are connected to a site. Many sites use cookies and they don't pose any security or privacy risks when used correctly. Problems only arise if sites store personal information or other identifying details in them.

We do not store anything in cookies that could be used to identify you - just a simple session ID that is discarded when your browser is closed.

Question 9: What Can I Do To Help?

Answer: One big way you can help us is by adding a link from your website to ours. This helps search engines find us and index the contents of our pages. While the large search engines already know we're here, additional 'inbound' links help in placing us higher in the search results.

Question 10: Your Site Has A Problem, Did You Know?

Answer: While we iron out all the obvious problems before putting features live we sometimes get the odd blip when something unforeseen occurs. If you notice anything incorrect, not working or just plain dumb we are always glad to be informed. Only through the eagle eyes of our visitors can we continue to improve and refine the details we display.

Problems including typographical errors, display anomalies, incorrect details, account queries or even suggestions can be sent to us by email or by using the feedback form under the Contact Us section.

The most efficient way to notify us that something is wrong is by posting a 'Report a Problem or Error' feedback message using the online feedback form. This automatically generates a bug report in our todo list - so we can't overlook it!

Question 11: FastTrack used to work, why doesn't it now?

Answer: FastTrack uses a secure token to log you into the system without all the hassle of passwords etc. The token is based on a secure hash of your email address and password so if you change either of these the token is no longer valid.

If you find your FastTrack no longer works simply go to 'My Profile' and follow the instructions on creating a new bookmark. This will update your bookmark with the correct and current token information.

Question 12: What's planned next for BedBreakfastHotel.com?

Answer: We have a number of exciting plans including a Services Directory - where supplier and contact details useful to hotelliers etc. can be posted, Advanced Search - where you can specify the criteria of accommodation you require and Popular Destinations - that will show where visitors to this site are choosing to go. The ideas keep coming...
